In 1924 a plot with a German Lutheran church was purchased on a hill in the 19th arrondissement of Paris — thus the Saint-Serge compound came into being. A year later the theological institute opened there, becoming the foremost school of Russian theology outside Russia.
From here came works now read in every language of Europe, and several generations of priests for the parishes of France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany.
